Yin, Mindfulness, and Nervous System Balance

This series is designed for students who want to understand their bodies and minds through a gentle, psychologically informed approach. As a psychotherapist, Heidi structured these sessions to blend the grounding qualities of yin yoga with evidence-based tools for emotional regulation, interoceptive awareness, and stress resilience.

Each class weaves together four core elements:

🔹 Yin Yoga Slow, floor-based postures held with support help access deeper fascial layers. The stillness of yin provides a safe container to notice physical sensations, allow nervous system stimulation, release accumulated tension, and practice being with internal experience without judgment.

🔹 Mindfulness Training You’ll learn practical, research-supported mindfulness skills—such as breath awareness, body scanning, and present-moment orientation—that can help reduce reactivity, increase clarity, increase self-compassion, and support emotional steadiness. These practices are approachable and designed to meet you where you are.

🔹 Nervous System Regulation Throughout the series, we explore the nervous system through a trauma-sensitive lens. You’ll learn accessible techniques for shifting toward safety and balance and understanding your own patterns with a bit more choice and ease.

🔹 Time for Questions About the Practice Each session includes space for you to ask questions about what you’re feeling, noticing, or wondering. This is a chance to connect the dots—how the shapes, sensations, mindfulness skills, and nervous system concepts apply to your experience. Think of it as your opportunity to get clarity, personalize the work, and have those “ohhh… that makes sense now” moments.
