Neely Kelley
Neely first began practicing yoga while serving in the Peace Corps in Gabon, Central Africa, nine years ago. At the time yoga gave her a way to be calm and centered amid the challenges of being a Peace Corps Volunteer. After returning home to the United States, she regularly practiced different styles of yoga for about a year, recognizing the many benefits of a regular practice. The next several years brought life changes -- graduate school, marriage, the birth of her two daughters. Even when she could not regularly practice yoga, Neely felt a lingering call to study and teach yoga. It was just a matter of finding the right teacher and the right training.
She discovered that teacher and that training as she was preparing for an upcoming move to New Haven. She had never heard of Forrest Yoga but found the teacher training scheduled to begin July 2009 at Fresh Yoga. Completing the intense and exhilarating 24 day training with Ana Forrest changed her life. Through her regular yoga practice, she continues to marvel at the power of breath and practice to promote healing. One of her passions is to now share her experiences of healing with her students.
She began the year-long Forrest Yoga Mentorship Program with Heidi Sormaz in November 2009 and is grateful for this opportunity to learn and grow as a Forrest Yoga instructor. Neely continues to be inspired by Ana, Heidi, her fellow yoga instructors, and her students.
