Millie VandenBroek

Millie first encountered yoga when she tagged along with her Uncle Mike to an Iyengar-style class in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the early 1980s. Years later, Millie sought out yoga to help deal with the stress of law school. Her weekly Kripalu class with Kamakshi Hart felt like a refuge, a safe homecoming into sensation, connection, and being. Millie has had an active and imperfect practice ever since. She received her teaching certificate from Kripalu in 2003, studying with Naresh Ron King and Diana Damielo, and then obtained her prenatal teaching certificate in 2010 while pregnant with the first of her two sons. Millie has expanded her movement language through 10 years of performing as a contemporary dancer and deepened her practice with silent meditation at home and on retreat.

Millie is most inspired by the teachings of Pascal Auclair and Rev. angel Kyodo williams. Millie teaches eclectic classes that mix strong-and-slow hatha flows with some longer holds. She is committed to holding spaces that welcome Every Body and that honor the origins of the practices.
