Donna came to yoga in the mid nineties, seeking a refuge from the frenetic pace of the corporate world and the burnout of a daily cardio session that left her feeling like a hamster on a wheel. Hooked after her first yoga class, she studied with a senior Iyengar teacher and developed a thirst for knowledge of all things yoga. She made a course correction and left financial management for a career in health and wellness.
Donna completed a 200-HR teacher training at Kripalu Yoga Center followed by a 3 year masters program at Yale, certified as a Nurse Practitioner specializing in Adult and Women’s Health. After several years practicing under the medical model, she became more convinced than ever that the key to wellness lies in the ability to self-soothe, to be present and allow for conscious choice, not chance, to guide your life. She knew from her personal practice that yoga provided this to her and went on to complete a 200-HR Forrest Yoga teacher training and a year long Forrest Yoga Mentorship with Heidi Sormaz. She has studied Yin Yoga with Josh Summers, Recovery Yoga with Nikki Myers, Yoga for Trauma with Peg Oliveira, and is currently completing her 500-HR teacher training with Heidi Sormaz and Rolf Gates.
Donna firmly believes that you cannot change what you cannot see and showing up for yourself in your yoga practice while paying attention gives you the opportunity to see with new eyes every day.
