Down on Down Dog?
A series of 6 yoga classes designed for people who find a regular
yoga class requires too much weight bearing in the upper body
due to injury. This class is tailored to individuals suffering
from repetitive strain injuries such as carpel tunnel syndrome
and tendonitis, people whose arms or hands have been injured
through computer or instrument overuse, as well as people recovering
from a specific injury to the shoulder, elbow, wrist or hands. It
is suitable for beginners, as well as experienced yoga practitioners
who are dealing with upper body injury. This basics level yoga
class excludes poses in which the arms bear much of the body
weight, much as down dog, dolphin, and chatturanga. Instead,
we will explore alternatives and modifications that students
can use in their practice, learning to safely strengthen and
stretch the upper body. During the series, students will
gain the tools to develop their own inspiring and sustainable
yoga practice.
